Gonzaga continues to win but hasn’t gotten a ton of respect for their strong record. How will they fare in this week’s college basketball power ratings?

It seems like the team of the past few years in college basketball is Gonzaga, which has been ranked highly at the start of each season only to fall short of winning a national title. That trend appeared set to continue this season but the Bulldogs had a few struggles against their tough non-conference schedule, losing three games prior to entering conference play in a tougher WCC.

Mark Few’s team has performed well in the WCC play, grinding out tough road wins against the likes of BYU, San Francisco and Santa Clara, but they have been slow to move back up the polls, landing eighth in the Week 10 AP Top 25 poll. It is fair to wonder if the Bulldogs are facing a double standard compared to a team like Kansas, which was rated second in the same poll and has been given praise for its guts by winning a few tough Big 12 games at home.

We’ll see if the national polls start giving Gonzaga more credit, but they will continue to receive high marks in this week’s college basketball power rankings. We’ll find out where the Bulldogs fall in just a bit, but let’s kick things off with this week’s Honorable Mentions.

Week 11 College Basketball Power Rankings – Honorable Mentions

Note: All rankings referenced in this story are based on the Week 10 AP Top 25 poll.

Texas, Charleston, TCU, Kansas State, Arizona

Arizona was in the Top 10 of last week’s rankings but has fallen out after another bad loss last week. The Wildcats’ guard play continues to be problematic after they got blown out by a very inconsistent Oregon team on Saturday, but they at least won a game compared to UCONN, which went 0-2 and lost to St. John’s at home on Sunday to fall out of the Honorable Mentions entirely for the time being.

We also welcome Charleston to the Honorable Mentions section after a perfect 2-0 week to extend their winning streak to 17 games. The 18-1 Cougars picked up arguably their toughest win in CAA play by winning on the road at UNC Wilmington, putting a perfect run through the Colonial into play.
