Predicting the best free agent the Buffalo Bills will sign: Jordan Poyer, S
The Bills have some notable names on their free agent list this offseason, but the most impactful is without a doubt safety Jordan Poyer. It was revealed late in the season that Poyer played this year with a torn meniscus, which is surprising, considering he’s played very well and the Bills have won games in which he’s started.
The funny thing, with Poyer, is that it took him a while to find his footing in the NFL. But once he did, he became a staple in Buffalo. It wasn’t until his fifth year in the league that he became a permanent starter, and that’s the year he joined the Bills after playing for Philadelphia and Cleveland.
Poyer just earned his first All-Pro nod last year and is a Pro Bowler this year, which is somewhat surprising considering he will turn 32 years old in April. But, Poyer has gotten better with age, unlike many NFL players.
In his last two seasons, Poyer has given up just one touchdown in each campaign. He’s been phenomenal in coverage, but he’s also a willing run defender. He’s one of the true heartbeats of this Bills’ defense, and he’s not going anywhere. The Bills will retain him and keep that defense mostly intact.
