Grading Raiders 2020 first-round pick: WR Henry Ruggs III – F

Once again, the Raiders had a high draft pick and took a player who wasn’t considered the best available at his position. With Ceedee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy available, the Raiders took Henry Ruggs III. He stands accused of killing someone in a drunk driving crash and will never see an NFL field if the allegations are true.

Grading Raiders 2020 first-round pick: CB Damon Arnette – F

Damon Arnette was another wild pick at the time, and he’s another player the Raiders were forced to cut him after a video showing him making threats and brandishing guns became public. He is now a practice squad player. It’s sad that this was the final piece of the historic Khalil Mack deal. The Raiders just made a mess of the assets gained from Mack and Amari Cooper.

Grading Raiders 2020 third-round pick: RB Lynn Bowden Jr. – D

It’s rare that a team drafts a player as high as Lynn Bowden and then trades him for a lesser pick just months later. The Raiders took Bowden as an offensive player, similar to what Deebo Samuel is now. However, he was traded right before the season started along with a sixth-round pick for a fourth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins. Bowden was just okay for the Dolphins, and he was on the Patriots practice squad this past season.

Grading Raiders 2020 third-round pick: WR Bryan Edwards – D

Goodness, this draft was a disaster. We are four picks in, and Bryan Edwards was probably the best player drafted so far. This is after he was traded this past offseason for a fifth-round pick. That pick has more potential than anything the Raiders drafted so far. What a disaster the 2020 draft has been. By the way, Edwards had just three catches and 15 yards for the Falcons this season.

Grading Raiders 2020 third-round pick: LB Tanner Muse – F

This just keeps getting worse. Tanner Muse was the Raiders third third-round pick of 2020, and he was somehow the worst. The other two at least got the Raiders draft pick compensation. Muse was injured in his rookie season before taking a regular-season snap. Then, he was waived the next August. That’s it! He finished his Raiders career without getting his uniform dirty. He eventually went to the Seattle Seahawks, where he’s been okay in a special teams role.

Grading Raiders 2020 fourth-round pick: G John Simpson – C-

It’s a rough draft when a player who was waived in the middle of his third year in the league is the crowning achievement of the front office. John Simpson was pretty good in his rookie season, jumping into a starting role when Richie Incognito got hurt. He never really progressed from there, and he was waived this past December.

Grading Raiders 2020 fourth-round pick: CB Amik Robertson – B-

Amik Robertson plays nickel and dime cornerback for the Raiders. There’s nothing to ride home about, but he’s definitely serviceable. The Raiders’ last pick in the 2020 NFL Draft was by far its best pick. He can at least stay with the franchise and get on the field. He had 29 tackles and two interceptions this past season. That’s not bad at all for his position.
