MLB power rankings: The World Series

Predicting the remaining teams that will participate in the Fall Classic

2. New York Mets

1. Houston Astros

Sorry to those hoping to see a Subway Series in 2023, but the Astros will once again put an end to the Yankees season (this time in six games) while the Mets will need seven games to eliminate the Padres.

In what will be a Fall Classic for the ages with plenty of storylines (including Justin Verlander taking the mound against his former team), the Astros will win the first two games at Minute Maid Park before losing the next two at Citi Field. However, in Game 5, thanks to a late Yordan Alvarez home run, the Astros will take the pivotal matchup and a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven matchup.

Game 6 will see a Framber Valdez masterpiece as the Astros win the World Series in front of their home fans for the second consecutive season, providing the finishing touches on Dusty Baker’s managerial career. Alvarez will be named as the World Series MVP.

That’s our look into the crystal ball, but what do you think? Who do you think captures the 2023 World Series and why? Which teams make the postseason that we overlooked? Which teams did we rank too high or too low? Let us know in the comments section below.
