The Cardinals could trade prospect Alec Burleson

Burleson is the fifth-ranked prospect in the Cardinals organization and one in a logjam of outfielders, making him a potential odd man out.

After playing most of the summer in AAA Memphis, Burleson was promoted and played 16 games for St. Louis. He hit .331/.372/.532 with an OPS of .905, with 20 homers and 87 RBI in 109 games with Memphis.

Burleson struggled after he arrived in Memphis. He played in 16 games. He hit .188/.264/.271 with an OPS of .535. He scored a double, a homer, three RBI, and four runs.

Burleson is another Cardinal youngster looking to an important Spring Training.

Burleson will get lots of playing time in spring to see his improvements over the offseason. This will also serve as a platform to see if he can break out of the logjam and earn his role on the Cardinals or within the organization. It could also be a platform to show off what he could bring another team. He could be a victim of that logjam.
