NFL Playoffs: Top 10 Divisional Playoff games in NFL history
Best divisional round games in NFL history: 6. Packers 34, Cowboys 31 (NFC: 2016)
This time the site was AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Two years earlier, it was Lambeau Field when the Green Bay Packers edged the Dallas Cowboys, 26-21, in the 2014 NFC Divisional Playoffs. To this day, the question continues to be asked: Did Dez catch it?
This time around, the teams engaged in a back-and-forth affair that was highlighted by one of the great passes and receptions in postseason annals.
Both Aaron Rodgers (355) and Dak Prescott (302) threw for 300-plus yards. The former threw for two scores and the latter three touchdowns and each served up an interception. Rodgers and the Packers owned a 21-3 second-quarter lead before the Cowboys rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the score on two occasions. The latter saw Dallas’ Dan Bailey connect on a 52-yard field goal with 31-all with 35 seconds to play.
Taking over at their own 25-yard-line, Green Bay would come up big in the closing seconds. On third-and-20 from their own 32-yard-line, Rodgers rolled to his left and found tight end Jared Cook for an amazing 35-yard gain with three seconds left on the clock. On the final play of the game, Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby nailed a 51-yard field goal and Mike McCarthy’s club had a walk-off victory.
