Just a bit outside: Spencer Strider is apparently Harry Doyle, too
By John Buhler
Spencer Strider announced the Atlanta Braves starting lineup better than anybody could.
Not only can Spencer Strider match Rick Vaughn’s heat off the rubber, but he can give Harry Doyle a run for his money in the booth too, bro.
Just a bit outside of the Truist Park grandstand, Strider flexed his announcing pipes we did not know he had in him. He may have an epic turn-of-the-century mustache, but how surprised are you that he sounded incredibly old-school when announcing the Atlanta Braves starting lineup? When I told you the living legend of Stache N Gas grows by the nanosecond, I was not kidding.
It is good to have Braves Fest back in our lives, as Strider showed off the pipes in his new No. 99.
Spencer Strider will be starring in a Bally Sports Southeast booth at some point
He may have been auditioning for the PA announcer role on a whim, but Strider once again stole the heart of Braves Country. Atlanta’s Wild Thing continues to make our hearts sing. He may have hipster tendencies, but it will completely blow our minds once Strider rocks some specs like his Major League fireballing hero. The Braves are already winning, but they will be winning even more!
Strider is coming off a sensational rookie season for the Braves. Under a long-term contract, Strider will be in a No. 99 Atlanta uniform for the foreseeable future. He might only be a two-pitch pitcher up to this point, but good luck trying to hit his elite fastball/slider combo. If he can develop something else off-speed with downward movement, he is going to throw a no-hitter for Atlanta.
What this spontaneous moment means for Braves Country is Strider just loves baseball. I mean, he picked his new jersey number because he digs what Rick Vaughn was about in Major League, as well as how cool that big number looks on the dang vidya games. You know Bob Uecker was a former Braves pitcher, right? He is living proof that you can go from the mound and into the booth.
Braves fans may want to hear him walk to the mound to The Troggs, but Strider loves The Strokes.
