1. Dak Prescott failed to deliver for the Cowboys

The Cowboys handed Dak Prescott a huge guaranteed contract a few years ago with the expectation that he would help them win playoff games. Prescott now leaves San Francisco with the same number of playoff wins as 49ers rookie Brock Purdy, which is not a good look for the far superior player.

Prescott put the Cowboys behind the eight ball early with a pair of interceptions that led directly to six points for the 49ers. The second interception was a killer as Dallas was driving late in the second quarter and had a shot at a field goal attempt before Prescott forced a ball into tight coverage and it was picked off by Fred Warner in the red zone.

The end result was a perfectly mediocre effort from Prescott, who completed 23-of-37 passes for 206 yards with one touchdown against two interceptions. It certainly didn’t help that Dallas has few explosive players outside of Pollard (who left early due to injury) and CeeDee Lamb, but Prescott wasn’t exactly accurate with the football for most of the day.

This is a big problem for Dallas, which is paying Prescott like a franchise quarterback but hasn’t seen him elevate the play of his teammates to a championship level in the postseason. Anyone who watches the tape from this game will easily see that Prescott is the biggest reason the Cowboys’ run of playoff disappointments was extended for another year.
