Travis Kelce relied on by Chiefs now more than ever

Travis Kelce will receive an extraordinary amount of attention from Bengals linebackers and defensive backs next weekend. With Mahomes hobbled, he will look for his big tight end as a security blanket and a quick outlet when necessary.

As mentioned in the previous slide, the Bengals will blitz a hobbled Mahomes more than they usually would since he won’t be able to escape the pocket with ease. He will have to rely on quicker routes, especially if the offensive line struggles to hold up under that intense heat.

Against the Jaguars, Mahomes and Kelce adjusted well post-injury, but Jacksonville was one of the worst coverage teams against tight ends in the NFL. Cincinnati should fare a little better, and offer a greater challenge to one of the best duos in the league.

Mahomes is confident in his ability to rebound from injury, but in the end it will be on the likely MVP’s teammates to provide a quick outlet and make plays after the catch as an adjustment to the Bengals approach.
