No. 9: Jayden Daniels, LSU QB
After three seasons of never quite reaching his potential at Arizona State, Jayden Daniels transferred to LSU to grow under the tutelage of Brian Kelly. He had to compete for the starting job, but the move turned out to be the right one.
Daniels’ first season was fruitful as he tied his career high of 17 touchdowns, throwing just three interceptions, and adding 11 touchdowns as a runner.
He likely wouldn’t have been one of the top QB prospects in the draft but he might have caught the eye of scouts with his efficient passing and dynamic running ability if he had taken that leap.
Instead, he’ll return to build on that 9-3 debut in the SEC with hopes of competing for the conference title and more. He already got LSU to the SEC title game. The next steps are clear for the program.
If LSU does make a run for SEC glory, it’ll be because Daniels takes that next step under Kelly. His return will give him a chance to vastly improve his draft stock while giving the Tigers continuity at QB in Year 2.
