Top 10 college football players returning to school over entering draft

No. 7: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Penn State OL

Penn State has played third fiddle to Michigan and Ohio State in the Big Ten East for several years now. Coming off a Rose Bowl victory, James Franklin and company have their eyes set on more.

That’s why Olumuyiwa Fashanu deciding to come back for the 2023 season is such a big deal.

It’s not often guys with a potential first-round grade spurn the NFL but that’s what Fashanu did, choosing to anchor the Nittany Lions offensive line for another year.

Not having to worry about replacing Fashanu at the left tackle spot certainly gives Penn State more reasons for optimism going forward. He’ll be a steadying force for quarterback Drew Allar, who is expected to lead the offense in 2023. Fashanu should also keep the Nittany Lion ground attack in fine form.

There could also be national recognition in the works for the LT. He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection while making the Walter Camp All-American second team. He’ll feature on preseason All-American and All-Big Ten squads with more than enough ability to follow through on that status.
