MLB news: The San Francisco Giants have underdelivered in free agency this offseason.

One of the teams who was expected to be the most active during the MLB offseason was the San Francisco Giants. But the Giants have had one of the most underwhelming winters of almost team in the league in terms of MLB news.

Perhaps it’s because the Giants have swung and missed on some of the biggest free agent targets this offseason. While it was always likely that AL MVP Aaron Judge would return to the New York Yankees, the Giants were thought to be in the mix.

The bigger blunder, however, was the Giants seemingly agreeing to a massive contract with free agent shortstop Carlos Correa. But Correa’s physical raised some red flags and San Francisco terminated the agreement.

To be fair, the New York Mets entered into negotiations and similar red flags were found. That allowed the Minnesota Twins to eventually swoop in and sign the All-Star shortstop to a new contract.

San Francisco has made several signings, none of which were blockbusters. The Giants added Sean Manaea, Mitch Haniger, Taylor Rogers, and re-signed Joc Pederson, so San Fran would appear to have taken the quantity over quality approach as they’ll look to win the NL West for the second time in two years.

The Giants will have an uphill climb in 2023. San Francisco made several moves, but none of them really move the needle.
