Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish got arguably the most impactful transfer on the market this offseason: Quarterback Sam Hartman.

There simply wasn’t a bigger quarterback available, certainly not one with the proven production of Hartman. He has multiple years of starting experience under his belt and is coming off back-to-back seasons with 38+ touchdowns.

Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees clearly wasn’t satisfied with what he got out of Drew Pyne last season. Hartman solves that problem and should be an even more helpful addition than Jack Coan was in 2021.

The Irish also handed Hartman receiver help by landing Virginia Tech’s Kaleb Smith.

On defense, they added Javontae Jean-Baptiste from Ohio State. He had four sacks last year as a rotational player for the Buckeyes and will look to do more as an outright starter in South Bend.

Safety Thomas Harper from Oklahoma State should also make an immediate impact along with USF kicker Spencer Shrader.
