Tom Brady officially announced his retirement on Wednesday and is already getting trolled by people around the league, including his former team.

Some legends get a tear-jerking send-off, others get a recycled retirement post.

Amid rampant speculation about his future, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady officially called it quits in a Twitter video released on Wednesday morning.

Many have since congratulated the G.O.A.T. for his legendary accomplishments on the field, but Brady’s former team, the New England Patriots, decided to take a snarkier route to thank Brady.

The owner of the Patriots’ Twitter account simply reposted last year’s retirement message to Brady with a short and sweet message: Quite the ride indeed. Thank you again.

Brady memorably retired last offseason but decided to un-retire just 40 days later, joining the Bucs for one last ride. This time, Brady stated in his retirement video that he was done “for good,” but people will just have to see how the offseason plays out.

Tom Brady gets a hilarious retirement message from the New England Patriots

In Brady’s retirement message last year, he noticeably omitted the Patriots when talking about his career accolades, so it makes some sense as to why the Patriots would descend to this comical level of pettiness.

There’s an ongoing sense that the Patriots still harbor some bad blood toward Brady after his departure three years ago, and their latest social media ploy may be proof of their hurt feelings.

Yet it’s easy to argue that Brady is still the best decision the Pats franchise has ever made (as he said so himself), and even through all the turmoil he will forever be remembered as the greatest ever to play for the New England Patriots.

The 2000 sixth-rounder won six Super Bowls in New England and has a long list of broken records to his name, including taking first place in all-time pass attempts, passing yards, passing touchdowns, quarterback wins, and more.

New England acted in the most nonchalant way possible toward Brady’s re-retirement perhaps to try to get into Brady’s head. Given all that he’s accomplished, though, there’s little chance Brady is thinking about the Patriots’ small-guy pettiness right now.
