Buccaneers: 1 trade, 1 signing and 1 draft pick to replace Tom Brady

One draft pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to replace Tom Brady: Tanner McKee, Stanford
Everyone wants to talk about Bryce Young, Will Levis and CJ Stroud, and rightfully so. Those three guys are without a doubt the top three quarterbacks in this year’s class and will see their names called early in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Beyond those three, though, there are some intriguing options that might end up panning out as legitimate NFL names with the right development. Anthony Richardson is an exciting, polarizing prospect. The Florida Gators quarterback presents a dual-threat skill set, but does that really line up with what Tampa has wanted to do in recent years? Not necessarily.
One guy they could go after in the second or third round, depending on how the draft falls, is Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee.
McKee isn’t getting nearly the publicity he should, but that’s because the top quarterback prospects are that good. It also has a lot to do with Stanford being downright putrid last season, but it wasn’t on McKee.
As a pure passer, McKee looks great. He’s a quarterback that likes to stand in the pocket and deliver, which is exactly what this Bucs offense is used to the past few years with Brady. McKee needs his offensive line to hold up and can struggle under pressure, so that’s an area he’ll need some coaching and development.
But, strictly as a pure passing quarterback, his intangibles are all there. His 6-foot-6 build is as ideal as they come, and he has one of the best arms in the class, able to make all different throws. McKee is more of an under-the-radar type for Tampa Bay, but he would be well-worth drafting.
