NBA Trade Rumors: 5 teams who can rescue Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets
By Ian Levy
3. Miami Heat
The Heat were another team rumored to be major Durant suitors in the offseason and there’s no reason to think that would change now. Whether the Heat could actually land him would ultimately come down to how much the Nets value the present production and future potential of Tyler Herro.
The Heat have the salaries to match in a Durant deal but they only really intriguing youth pieces they have are Nikola Jovic and Herro — who is averaging 20.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game a year after winning the Sixth Man of the Year. The Heat owe their 2025 first-round pick to the Thunder which pushes the picks they can offer further into the future. That means the Nets would have to really like the idea of Herro as a centerpiece scorer and creator for the near future.
