Steelers who won’t be missed: Terrell Edmunds

Terrell Edmunds is a fine player on a bad team. As a former first-round pick, the Steelers expected great things from the Virginia Tech product in their secondary, but he’s been inconsistent in coverage and fails to provide the necessary complement next to Minkah Fitzpatrick.

This doesn’t mean Pittsburgh would have to spend much at the safety spot. They already have Fitzpatrick in tow, and he covers for many of Edmunds flaws. However, imagine if the Steelers had a capable cover safety next to Minkah, allowing him to roam the secondary and force turnovers at will?

I could see Edmunds back next season, but that doesn’t mean he was missed. Edmunds would return on a short-term, low-AAV contract if the Steelers can’t find a suitable replacement at their price point. And that doesn’t speak volumes about his ability.

It’s time for the Steelers to expect more out of their Day 1 draft picks than what Bush and Edmunds have offered thus far.
