4. New York Mets

The New York Mets should be a team that’s linked with every major free agent right now. Their owner Steve Cohen has stopped at nothing to try and make the team as competitive as possible. They spent $162 million dollars on Brandon Nimmo, $102 million dollars on Edwin Diaz, $86.6 million dollars on Justin Verlander, and $75 million dollars on Kodai Senga this offseason alone.

The Mets were going to give $315 million dollars to Carlos Correa on top of all of that before his physical fell through. The point is, the Mets have seemingly unlimited money, and they will be in on Shohei Ohtani.

New York just won 101 games last season and despite losing players like Jacob deGrom and Chris Bassitt in free agency, arguably got better.

The Mets are a team on the rise with an owner who wants to win, a passionate fanbase, and the money to make him happy. It’s all about whether Ohtani wants to live in New York for the next decade or more.
