Cincinnati Bengals offseason move – Sign CB James Bradberry
The top priority for the Bengals this offseason will be to complete a long-term contract extension for Joe Burrow, which should get done sooner rather than later. Assuming that business is taken care of, Cincinnati should look to upgrade its secondary with a splashy free-agent signing in the form of James Bradberry.
A vast majority of the Bengals’ secondary is set to become free agents, with safety Jessie Bates a top priority to retain. There is room to upgrade over veteran Eli Apple, however, and Bradberry continued to play at an elite level with the Eagles this season.
Signing Bradberry would give the Bengals an upgrade at the No. 1 cornerback spot, which should be helpful to slow down elite receivers like Stefon Diggs. Adding an elite shutdown corner would also aid the Cincinnati pass rush, which could generate more coverage sacks with better cornerback play.
Burrow himself has indicated that the Bengals’ Super Bowl window is essentially his entire career. Cincinnati should take advantage of it by upgrading one of its biggest weak spots on the open market.
