Chiefs: Is Carlos Dunlap done in Kansas City?

Carlos Dunlap played in all 17 games for the Kansas City Chiefs, but his time with the team could come to an end after this season. In a reserve defensive end role, Dunlap contributed four sacks. If anything, he’s proven he deserves more playing time, and that’s something the Chiefs cannot promise.

Dunlap could win a Super Bowl, the first of his 12-year NFL career, on Sunday. He spent the majority of that time with the Cincinnati Bengals before moving on to the Seattle Seahawks last season, and then KC. Dunlap is a two-time Pro Bowler, and a luxury at one of the more important positions in football.

Dunlap had nothing but good things to say about the Bengals organization after the Chiefs win in the AFC Championship Game, so perhaps a return to Cincinnati is in order. Were that to be the case, he’d have an easy opportunity to prove this list wrong.

“The Bengals organization is huge chapter in my book,” Dunlap said, per Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson. “Mr. (Mike) Brown. The Blackburn family. (Director of Ops) Jeff Brickner. If my team (Seattle) wasn’t going, I was excited for the organization. It’s new day over there, you know that. … (Burrow) is the future of the NFL. Next to Pat Mahomes, who else? Future is his.”

But Dunlap will also be 34 at the start of the 2023 season. Depending on the team he chooses, this could be his best and last shot at paydirt.
