Kansas City Chiefs who won’t be back: Chad Henne

As capable as Chad Henne is as a backup quarterback, given his team just won the Super Bowl AGAIN, the Michigan product has a lot to think about this offseason. Henne is 38 years old, and the wily old vet could easily give way to Shane Beuchele — a far younger player that the Chiefs like as an heir-apparent to Henne — without the organization batting an eye.

Henne proved he can still lead this offense when called upon. Against Jacksonville in the AFC Divisional Round, Mahomes went down with his high ankle sprain. Henne led a 99-yard drive shortly thereafter that changed the entire outlook of that game.

Kansas City would go on to take care of business against Jacksonville. Without Henne, they may not have reached their eventual destination — a trip to Arizona to take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Henne has been a valued backup and friend to Patrick Mahomes. If he does leave, he will be missed.
