10. Week 15 College Basketball Power Rankings – Tennessee Volunteers

  • Previously: 4th
  • Record: 19-6 (8-4 In SEC)
  • Last Week: Lost 66-65 At Vanderbilt, Lost 86-85 Vs. Missouri
  • This Week: Vs. No. 3 Alabama 2/15, At Kentucky 2/18

A pair of one-point losses, including a buzzer-beating defeat at Vanderbilt on Wednesday, has Tennessee in a crisis as the Volunteers have lost three of their past four games. There is still plenty of time for a team with a resume as strong as Tennessee’s to right the ship, which is why they haven’t fallen out of the Top 10 yet, but their offensive issues are becoming a bigger concern by the day.

9. Week 15 College Basketball Power Rankings – Baylor Bears

  • Previously: Not Ranked
  • Record: 19-6 (8-4 In Big 12)
  • Last Week: Won 82-72 Vs. Oklahoma, Won 72-68 At No. 17 TCU
  • This Week: Vs. West Virginia 2/13, At No. 9 Kansas 2/18

Going 2-0 in the Big 12 is an accomplishment so the Bears did tremendous work this week, including an impressive road win at No. 17 TCU where the Horned Frogs gave them everything they could handle even without top scorer Mike Miles. Baylor has a chance to make a huge statement this weekend by going to Allen Fieldhouse and beating the Jayhawks on Saturday.

8. Week 15 College Basketball Power Rankings – Arizona Wildcats

  • Previously: 5th
  • Record: 22-4 (11-4 In Pac-12)
  • Last Week: Won 85-62 At Cal, Lost 88-79 At Stanford
  • This Week: Vs. Utah 2/16, Vs. Colorado 2/18

When you’re fighting for a No. 1 seed, losing on the road against a 10-14 team with a NET raning above 100 is a no-no. This was a very bad loss for Arizona, which has a tough game coming up on Thursday against a bubbly Utah team that needs a win over the Wildcats to significantly enhance their NCAA Tournament resume.

7. Week 15 College Basketball Power Rankings – Virginia Cavaliers

  • Previously: Honorable Mention
  • Record: 19-4 (11-3 In SEC)
  • Last Week: Won 63-50 Vs. No. 22 NC State, Won 69-62 (OT) Vs. Duke
  • This Week: At Louisville, 2/15, Vs. Notre Dame 2/18

Beating Duke isn’t as big an accomplishment as it was last year but the Cavaliers did take care of business against two good teams at home to remain in control of the ACC. There isn’t much of an opportunity for Virginia to enhance its resume down the stretch as much as they can damage it with bad losses, making Wednesday’s trip to 3-22 Louisville the worst possible game a power conference school could draw in league play.

6. Week 15 College Basketball Power Rankings – Purdue Boilermakers

  • Previously: 3rd
  • Record: 23-3 (12-3 In Big Ten)
  • Last Week: Won 87-73 Vs. Iowa, Lost 64-58 At Northwestern
  • This Week: At Maryland 2/16, Vs. Ohio State 2/19

The Boilermakers have now dropped two of their last three games, both on the road, after Sunday’s loss at Northwestern in a game that meant a ton more to the Wildcats than it did to Purdue. Thursday’s game at Maryland is also dangerous since the bubbly Terrapins are 13-1 at home with the only defeat coming against UCLA in non-conference play in December.
