Philly came into this matchup with four players having recorded 10-plus sacks in the 2022 regular season: Haason Reddick, Jason Hargrave, Josh Sweat, and Brandon Ingram.

Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes didn’t hit the ground once in the Super Bowl, and the Eagles’ pass-rushing corps were left scratching their heads at why they couldn’t take down a semi-injured quarterback.

Kudos to Andy Reid, Eric Bieniemy, and the offensive coaching staff here: 56 percent of Mahomes’ throws were completed in under 2.5 seconds with Mahomes making quick work in the passing game to lower his chances of getting sacked. Kansas City’s stout offensive line obviously deserves a large chunk of credit as well.

Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick, who finished the regular season with a team-high 16 sacks and 26 quarterback hits, was agonizingly close to getting his hands on Mahomes, but no dice.

The DPOY candidate shined all throughout the Eagles’ division-topping season, and in truth his sack-less Super Bowl performance shouldn’t overshadow his incredible achievements in just his first year in Philly. Still, he and the rest of the Eagles’ pass-rushers will go home without a single sack on Mahomes and without the Lombardi Trophy.
