Zack Britton free-agent fit: Los Angeles Angels

The Angels could go in a few different directions. They could pursue Michael Wacha, the top free-agent starting pitcher. They could turn to the trade market for starting pitcher and/or bullpen help. Or they could turn to the free-agent market to bolster the bullpen and add Britton.

Angels general manager Perry Minasian has payroll and roster flexibility, so nothing can be ruled out. But Britton is a player that the Angels have had discussions with this offseason, sources say.

Zack Britton free-agent fit: Texas Rangers

The Rangers have added frontline starters Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi. They retained Martin Perez on a one-year qualifying offer. They’ve added fliers on low-risk minor-league contracts.

Now it’s time to address the bullpen and adding Britton would make sense on a low-risk, short-term contract. It’s unclear if the two sides have had any conversations, but general manager Chris Young would be smart to consider Britton, who could add valuable experience to a Rangers team that’s looking to make a postseason push.
