NFL Draft: 5 best quarterbacks available in 2023

3. Anthony Richardson, Florida
Anthony Richardson, for lack of a better phrase, is an absolute DOG. He is unquestionably rough around the edges and may not see the field in year one, but the NFL is moving more and more toward his style of play each year. There is room for him in this league.
Richardson is the closest thing that we’ve seen to Cam Newton since, well, Cam Newton. He fills out a towering 6-foot-4 frame with about 230 pounds and moves with 4.4 speed. The kid is a freak of an athlete and put the impossible on display a number of times in his Florida tenure.
To counter his highlight reel with some lowlight reality, when it rains it pours for Richardson. He had a number of lingering lower body injuries over the past two years, and when he misses with his arm, he misses badly. He finished 10th in the SEC in passing yards (2,549) and ninth in passing touchdowns (17). The stat sheet wasn’t necessarily stuffed by his passing abilities when weighed against the top two quarterbacks on the list, but he is still the start of the second-tier of quarterbacks in the class.
The magic he can make with his legs is what makes him deserving of the third spot on the list. In an NFL that is becoming more and more receptive to the dual-threat quarterback, there is a place out there where Richardson can thrive. Picture him in a Lamar Jackson-styled offense, where the arm wows when it does, but the greatest strength of the team is charged by his legs.
