2023 NFL Draft: Full two-round mock after Super Bowl LVII
By Brad Weiss
The Las Vegas Raiders have dominated the headlines in recent weeks, as a lot of the noise surrounding the team has focused on Derek Carr. After all, is said and done, Carr will be released, and while they could go quarterback with pick No. 7 overall, revamping the defensive backfield is probably the better move.
Las Vegas could certainly move up to get Stroud or Young if they want to send away a bunch of assets, but instead, Christian Gonzalez from Oregon is the pick. Playing in a division with Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert, and Patrick Mahomes is no fun for a Raiders team who has been atrocious against the pass.
The Atlanta Falcons have numerous pressing needs heading into this offseason, but the hope for the franchise is they found their starting quarterback last draft season in Desmond Ridder. After the Marcus Mariota experiment did not work out, Ridder started some games down the stretch, giving him something to build on this offseason.
When it comes to picking No. 8 overall, the Falcons have to do something to get better along the defensive line, especially coming off the edge. Tyree Wilson has incredible quickness, racking up 14 sacks and 27.5 tackles for a loss across the past two seasons, so he should be a Day 1 starter in Atlanta.
