The 2023 college baseball season is upon us, so let’s make some bold predictions about how this year is going to go.

College baseball is finally here!

That’s right, we finally get to watch the 2023 college baseball season. This remarkable sport has a growing following and incredibly passionate fanbases. And it also boasts arguably the best postseason in all of college sports.

There’s a ton of parity all throughout the country and there’s a ton of fun to be had while watching college baseball.

So, to get ready for all that this year could possibly throw our way, here are five bold predictions as we get set to watch the 2023 college baseball season.

5 bold predictions ahead of the 2023 college baseball season

No. 5: The ACC has three teams make it to the College World Series

While it’s often clear that the SEC is a dominant force in college baseball, this year, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on the ACC. Don’t be shocked if the ACC gets three teams into the College World Series this year. That feels fairly realistic when you take the time to consider that teams like Wake Forest, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, and Virginia Tech are all really promising.

No. 4: Oklahoma State takes over the Big 12

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have some notable college baseball success throughout their history to be proud of, but this year sure seems like an incredible opportunity for the Cowboys to step up and win the Big 12. Both the Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are having to replace key contributors and Oklahoma State might just have a realistic path to winning the conference this year.

No. 3: Tennessee wins the SEC once again

Up until their surprising and abrupt exit from the Knoxville Super Regional, it sure seemed like Tony Vitello and the Tennessee Volunteers were bound to win a national title with ease a season ago. This is a program that is far from being a blue blood but has suddenly burst onto the scene and decided that it likes to contend in college baseball. With the amount of talent that Tennessee brings back (Tennessee might just have the best pitching staff in the conference), expect the Vols to have the ability to win the Southeastern Conference once more.

No. 2: Mississippi State baseball bounces back and makes it to Omaha

Had Chris Lemonis’ team not been hindered heavily by injuries all throughout its pitching staff, it’s fair to wonder how the Bulldogs would have fared in 2022. MSU has an abundance of talent and a powerful lineup, but there are some questions that need to be answered with the pitching staff. Still, Lemonis has been to Omaha twice with Mississippi State. It’s not really all that farfetched to imagine he could get there again with a healthy team.

No. 1: LSU wins the College World Series

The LSU Tigers might just have the most talented roster in the country. This team is built to compete at a high level and is terrifying (in theory). We’ll see how good the Tigers actually are once the season gets going. But with the additions of guys like Paul Skenes and Tommy White out of the transfer portal, the Tigers should certainly be a team that everyone has to worry about.
