2. Titans HC Mike Vrabel can coach Mac Jones into a good quarterback

The Tennessee Titans are already a dark horse trade contender with another AFC East team, the New York Jets, who could make a bid for veteran Ryan Tannehill by the end of the offseason.

The 35-year-old Tannehill enters the last year of his deal in 2023 and it’s becoming clear that the Titans need to usher in a new era, one that may not include 2022 third-rounder Malik Willis. Willis has just three starts under his belt, throwing for 276 yards and recording zero touchdowns against three interceptions last year.

Head coach Mike Vrabel could be looking for a more developed quarterback project to mold into the Titans’ scheme, which is where Jones would come in. Tennessee barely missed the playoffs in 2022, critically lacking a stabilizing presence under center. With a dominant Derrick Henry pounding the rock this upcoming season, the team wouldn’t need stellar quarterback play. They just need consistency, and Jones’ 65 percent pass completion rate would do it for them. Besides, who wouldn’t want to see Jones square off against Trevor Lawrence twice a year?

This wouldn’t be a super simple quarterback swap between Jones and Willis, but some other compensatory draft picks could work well for both sides. The Pats would get Willis along with a 2023 second-rounder, and the Titans would get Jones along with a 2023 fourth-rounder (No. 107 overall).
