1. Jets’ quarterback options – Aaron Rodgers

Sometimes you have to risk it to get the biscuit and taking a swing on Rodgers is the Jets’ best shot at winning a Super Bowl in the next two years. The Jets have gone down this road before, infamously trading for Brett Favre in 2008, and the move backfired at the end of the season as New York collapsed to miss the playoffs.

It is important to remember that the Jets were in prime playoff position because of Favre, who guided the team to an 8-3 start before tearing his biceps in the middle of the season. Favre opted to keep playing to extend his consecutive starts streak, a decision that was costly to everyone involved, but a healthy Favre could have gotten the Jets to the Super Bowl that year.

There is significant risk with trading for Rodgers, who may play for just one more season and require multiple first-round picks to get a deal done with Green Bay. There is no question that Rodgers’ play declined considerably last season, however, as he struggled to connect with his young receivers after the Packers traded Davante Adams in the offseason.

The roster the Jets have is better than the one the Packers can offer, however, which could help Rodgers have a resurgent campaign in 2023. There is no quarterback outside of Jackson who can singlehandedly elevate the Jets’ championship prospects than Rodgers, so it makes perfect sense for New York to go big-game hunting to land the future Hall-of-Famer.
