Chiefs who should be on the trade block: 1. Frank Clark

Clark was a solid defender for the Chiefs during their Super Bowl run, but the chances of him justifying his $30,175,000 salary for next season are almost non-existent. Similar to the situation with Jones, Kansas City needs to either ink Clark to an extension or see if they can get anything of value back from him via a trade.

It’s more likely the Chiefs will be forced to cut Clark, but that doesn’t mean they should work the phone lines in hopes of finding a trade. Clark did notch six sacks in 15 games last year and there might be a team who believes he can rejuvenate his career as he heads into his age-30 season.

Securing even a late-round or conditional draft pick in exchange for Clark would represent good business for the Chiefs’ front office. Clark is a talented player but he is just wildly overpaid. Getting his salary off the books should be one of the team’s top priorities heading into the offseason.

Clark has never played like the difference-maker the Chiefs were hoping for when they acquired him, but he’s still helped them win at a prodigious clip. It’s time for the organization to thank him for his service and move on to younger, cheaper options at defensive end.
