MLB news: Trimmed down Eloy Jimenez promises big things for White Sox
A disappointing 2022 season for the Chicago White Sox turned into more disappointment as the team saw longtime star Jose Abreu depart for Houston in free agency this offseason. Having said that, the crew from the Southside still has some star power that, if they are able to live up to their potential, could still compete to win the AL Central.
And if Eloy Jimenez is to be believed, the outfielder is ready to be a big factor in any potential playoff push.
On Wednesday, the 26-year-old left fielder talked about his offseason weight loss and how he’s already seeing the results. Not only does he feel that losing 25-30 pounds this offseason will help him be a permanent fixture and better defender in the outfield, but he’s also swinging easier and more freely with the pesky lbs out of the way.
Jimenez was injured for half of last season but showed his immense talent in the 84 games he played, slashing .295/.358/.500 with 16 home runs, 12 doubles and 54 RBI when he was in the lineup.
Now with less physical weight to carry and with what he’s seeing early on in Spring Training that the weight loss allows him to do, White Sox fans should be excited about what he could deliver in the 2023 campaign.
