20. Atlanta Braves will regret letting Marcell Ozuna waste a roster spot

Marcell Ozuna might be able to give the Atlanta Braves an occasional home run. This isn’t enough to justify keeping him on the roster. His off-field issues should have been enough for the Braves to move on from him. Purely from a baseball standpoint, Ozuna isn’t offering them enough. He’s a declining outfielder whose presence as a DH makes it even more difficult for the club to get the most out of Travis d’Arnaud and Sean Murphy. Was there no one out there willing to take him?

19. Toronto Blue Jays will regret not adding better lefty hitters

The Toronto Blue Jays did add Daulton Varsho to the lineup this offseason. He doesn’t feel like nearly enough. Brandon Belt and Kevin Kiermaier are two of the other left-handed hitters the Blue Jays brought north. Each has seen better days. From the jump, Toronto needs to have other lefties in mind for the trade deadline.

18. New York Mets will regret not having a better DH plan

The New York Mets might not regret walking away from Carlos Correa. They will, however, wish they added more to the lineup. Their biggest regret is not doing more at the DH spot. Yet another year of Daniel Vogelbach platooning with a righty or two is what the team from Queens has in mind for the start of the 2023 season. This failed miserably down the stretch in 2022. The Mets are hopeful they can redefine insanity by hoping for a different result.

17. Los Angeles Angels will regret signing Tyler Anderson

Rather than turning back the clock this offseason, the Los Angeles Angels decided to push forward. They are already at risk of losing Shohei Ohtani next offseason. No decision made this winter could have helped much. The signing of Tyler Anderson does feel a bit overrated. At three years and $39 million, he doesn’t appear to be the wisest buy for them. The starting staff could’ve used someone better. Already 33, the Anderson contract is not horrid but it feels like the wrong choice.

16. Tampa Bay Rays will regret investing so much in Zach Eflin

Another overblown signing is the one made by the Tampa Bay Rays. They often ignore free agency. This offseason, they handed out a three-year deal worth $40 million to free agency Zach Eflin. It’s the kind of deal where the team is hoping they are buying a somewhat late bloomer. Eflin was not a fantastic pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. Do the Rays know something we don’t or will a rare trip into the free agent market leave them wishing they kept their wallets shut?
