3 players the Cowboys could trade up for in the 2023 NFL Draft
1. Bijan Robinson
The Cowboys have finally learned their lesson that giving a running back a massive contract is a great way to ruin an NFL team’s cap sheet. The same cannot be said for landing a potential superstar at the position in Round 1.
Robinson isn’t “just” the top-rated running back in this year’s class. Instead, he’s viewed by many NFL executives as a difference-maker who is among the most talented overall players coming out of college this season. It’s only because the running back position is so devalued that he’ll likely slip outside the top 10.
It’s easy to envision the Cowboys’ front office falling in love with Robinson as the ideal partner for Tony Pollard in the backfield. He can run the ball between the tackles with physicality but is also a standout pass-catcher. Drafting Robinson in Round 1 would allow Cowboys fans to forget all about Ezekiel Elliott.
Some mock drafts have Robinson falling all the way to Dallas at No. 26, but it only takes one team to fall in love with him to ruin Dallas’ chances of staying put and taking the supremely talented rusher. Moving up a few spots might be worth the investment to make sure they get Prescott another weapon in the backfield.
