6. Tyler Scott, Cincinnati

It was the 2021 Cincinnati Bearcats who took the world by storm making their first-ever CFP appearance. Desmond Ridder, Alec Pierce, Sauce Gardener, Coby Bryant and Bryan Cook each became household names for their respective NFL fanbases this past season, but their run to the college playoff was the last that most of us heard of the school. Tyler Scott is the leading prospect out the Cincinnati this year and is truly the zig to the aforementioned Josh Downs’ zag.

According to PFF, Scott played a total of 372 passing downs in 2022 and 359 of them were out wide. His 55 catches, 904 yards and 9 touchdowns this year are hardly the most interesting note about him as a prospect, but bode well for his projection in the NFL. He has game-changing speed, big-time hops, and an awesome ability to high-point passes in a 5-foot-11 frame. All of that is sweet but is still not the most impressive note on his game.

Enough of the suspense buildup — here it is. The craziest thing to consider about Tyler Scott is that prior to attending the University of Cincinnati he had never even played wide receiver! He was an undersized, speedy, three-star running back out of high school and converted to wideout at the next level. For someone with literally zero prior experience in the position, his 1,425 yards and 14 touchdowns since 2021 are wildly impressive. The untapped potential in the mental side of his game is enticing, and his unique speed makes for can’t-miss TV.
