2. Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Smith-Njigba was most talent evaluators’ No. 1 wide receiver prospect heading into the 2022 season. A troublesome hamstring injury cost him three games and seemed to bother him most of the time he was actually on the field for Ohio State.

If he can put that injury behind him there’s no reason he can’t be the first wideout off the board in this year’s draft. That kind of status might make him too costly for the Chiefs to acquire, but he’s tailor-made to thrive in their offensive system.

Specifically, his elite route-running skills would give Kansas City’s offense even more options than they enjoyed last season. Smith-Njigba has the frame to work as a starter on the outside but he could also fill Smith-Schuster’s duties in the slot if he leaves via free agency.

Some scouts are concerned with Smith-Njigba’s lack of top-end speed or elite size, but his productivity two seasons ago in the Big 10 shows just how dangerous of a weapon he can be. Smith-Njigba should be the next great Ohio State wide receiver to transition to the pros and landing in Kansas City would be a dream scenario for the former Buckeye.
