7. Top Free Agent Running Backs – Kareem Hunt

It’s hard to believe that Hunt is just 27 years old but it feels like he’s been in the league forever. The Cleveland Browns have used Hunt as their backup running back since he signed with them but Hunt is eager to land a new starting gig. There is value to be had as Hunt ran for over 1,300 yards as a rookie before getting cut by the Kansas City Chiefs when a video of him assaulting a woman emerged, but he has been a good citizen since then and should attract interest on the market.

6. Top Free Agent Running Backs – Damien Harris

There is nothing sexy about Harris, a classic between-the-tackles runner who doesn’t offer much pass-catching ability, but he is productive when healthy. Injuries cost Harris dearly in 2022 as he missed six games and saw his workload get seized by the more dynamic Rhamondre Stevenson in the process. Teams in the market for an early down back may get good value with Harris, whose value is down after last season in New England.

5. Top Free Agent Running Backs – David Montgomery

There could be some upside left with Montgomery, who has plateaued after a breakthrough 2020 season in Chicago. Montgomery had injury issues and split time with Khalil Herbert last season but has capable hands and averaged four yards per carry last season. A younger free agent at 25, there is still plenty of reason to believe Montgomery’s best football lies ahead of him.

4. Top Free Agent Running Backs – Tony Pollard

The Cowboys were cautious to take the training wheels off Pollard but he was clearly their most dynamic runner throughout the regular season. A broken leg in the playoffs and the fact that Dallas may use the franchise tag on Pollard is the only reason he’s not in the Top 3 of this list.
