3. Daniel Jones

The Giants made the bet to decline Jones’ fifth-year option but new coach Brian Daboll helped turn him into a highly-efficient starter in 2022. Now New York is faced with the challenge of meeting their young quarterback’s lofty salary demands.

Rumors have been flying around the Big Apple that Jones might want upwards of $45 million per season to re-sign with the team. Even if that number is higher than Jones’ real asking price, it represents a serious cash outlay for a team that wasn’t convinced that he was their quarterback of the future just 12 months ago.

Jones lands higher than Carr on this list because of his youth and mobility. He’s still got room left to grow as a passer, but his running ability makes him a fit for more potential teams if he hits the open market.

The odds greatly favor the Giants finding a way to keep Jones in the fold. They have the power of the franchise tag in their favor as a fail-safe if they can’t ink Jones to a long-term extension. The reality is both sides should be motivated to get that done in the offseason. It might take some time, but look for Jones to commit his future to the team that drafted him via a lucrative, multi-year contract.
