NFL rumors: Eagles player takes a shot at Jonathan Gannon

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon was asked what went wrong in the Super Bowl. Specifically, in the second half of the game, Gannon’s defense gave up three touchdowns and a field goal on four Kansas City Chiefs drives.

A simple answer to that question would have been Patrick Mahomes, but Gannon did not go that route. Rather, he commented on the scheme and took some responsibility. That wasn’t good enough for C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who put Gannon on the spot in a since-deleted tweet.

Gannon was at the NFL Combine scouting as the newly-appointed head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

The former Eagles defensive coordinator was a prime head coaching candidate for a reason, as he helped scheme one of the best pass rushes in NFL history. However, the Super Bowl defeat will hang over his head for quite some time, as the Eagles gave up 38 points — including 24 second half points — to Mahomes and the Chiefs.
