NFL rumors: Is Tom Brady actually retired?

Tom Brady is not coming back to the NFL, at least not as a player. When Brady retired, this time he meant it.

While some took Brady stating he would not start broadcasting with FOX until the 2024 season as a sign he might come back and play, that is far from the truth. Brady told the Buccaneers of his intentions last fall, and he has followed through to the tee. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer backed up that assertion, stating that Brady has no intention of playing football again.

"“My understanding is he told Buccaneers folks in the fall that his plan, should he retire, was to take a year off, decompress and study broadcasters before entering the booth and starting the clock on his 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox,” Breer wrote. “So none of what he’s done over the past month hasn’t been haphazard at all — it actually follows the road map he explained to others months ago.”"

At 45 years old, Brady is coming off the worst season of his NFL career. The Buccaneers are shedding salary, and Brady would have to start anew elsewhere. Why in the world would he take on that challenge, when instead TB12 can take a year off and earn a reported $375 million over 10 years with FOX in 2024?
