2. Jordan Walker can steal LF from Tyler O’Neill

With third base being blocked, Walker has played 52 games in the outfield in the minors. Only two of those games have come in left field, but he’s played there in Spring Training and even made this nice catch out there.

Walker would be replacing the presumed starter in left, Tyler O’Neill, who is coming off of a dreadful season.

O’Neill slashed .228/.308/.392 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI. This performance came after a dream season which saw him finish eighth in the NL MVP balloting out of nowhere.

If O’Neill struggles in camp or struggles to begin the season, we can most definitely see Walker step in.

The veteran definitely brings more speed and defense than Walker, but Walker’s bat could be a real difference-maker.

It’s unclear how patient St. Louis is with O’Neill, but they have a plethora of quality outfielders, so one will have to sit to accommodate their future star. That’s what makes the lack of a trade more confusing.
