Here is everything you need to know for the first F1 weekend of the year, which takes place in Bahrain.

F1 racing is back! After some testing, the first race weekend is here, where we’ll see points on the board and get a feel for what teams have early issues and which ones look like they’ve used the offseason developmental period well.

The first race of the season is in Bahrain, and after practices and qualifying on Friday and Saturday, the race will be on Sunday. Here is some background on what to expect.

F1 free practice 2: F1 FP2 results

The story of FP2 was Lance Stroll’s wrists. Stroll had trouble turning the wheel tight enough around certain corners on the track because of a wrist surgery he’s recovering from. It’ll be interesting to see if he continues to race this weekend or if Aston Martin goes with one of their backup drivers.

Felipe Drugovich replaced Stroll in preseason testing and would be the most likely choice to take over if Stroll can’t go on Saturday or Sunday.

Oscar Piastri is a McLaren driver. After spending years in the Renault/Alpine racing academy, Piastri made the move over to McLaren when Daniel Ricciardo’s seat opened up. Ricciardo found himself back with Red Bull Racing in a reserve role.
