NBA news: Steph Curry prepares to return

Steph Curry hasn’t played in nearly a month but, according to Chris Haynes, he is expected to return to the Warriors lineup Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Warriors have gone 6-4 in the 10 games Curry has missed with this leg injury and are currently riding a four-game winning streak. Klay Thompson has been particularly hot in Curry’s absence, averaging 27.1 points per game and shooting 46.4 percent on more than 12 3-point attempts per game over this stretch.

Even though they have some momentum, Curry’s return couldn’t come at a better time for the Warriors. They’ve climbed to the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference and trail the Phoenix Suns by just a single game for the No. 4 seed. But they have an incredibly difficult stretch ahead of them with the Pelicans, Lakers (when Curry would return), Thunder, Grizzlies, Bucks, Suns and Clippers up next on the schedule.

If the Warriors do want to secure homecourt advantage in the first round, this seven-game stretch could be the difference and having their offensive engine back in the lineup is a huge boost.
