Lions galaxy brain trade No. 2: Buccaneers Blockbuster

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have -$57 million in cap space. They need to make moves this offseason. One option is trading Chris Godwin, which would open up $8.75 million in cap space.

The Lions already have a clear number one receiver in St. Brown, but Godwin would make their offense even more dangerous. Over the last four seasons, Godwin has racked up 4,299 receiving yards, and he is averaging a blistering 78.2 receiving yards per game, which is the sixth-most among NFL wide receivers (minimum 30 games). Last season, Godwin posted 104 receptions for 1,023 yards and three touchdowns.

This potential trade is modeled after the A.J. Brown deal. Coincidentally, Brown was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the 18th (1st round) and 101st (3rd round) overall picks. Brown is two years younger, so the third-round pick is waived.

St. Brown and Godwin would give the Lions one of the best wide receiver combos in the NFL. Last season, both players ranked in the top eight in receptions.
