4. Top Free Agent Fits For Daniel Jones – New York Jets

It’s the worst-kept secret in the NFL that the Jets are determined to land an upgrade at quarterback. While New York has been looking in the upper tier of the market at Carr and Aaron Rodgers, a longer-term solution like Jones could also be appealing as well.

The fact that Jones has already had success in this market would be a positive for the Jets since some players struggle under the scrutiny of the New York media. The fit would also be strong with Jones, who would just have to switch locker rooms and join a team on the rise as well.

The franchise tag possibility does put the Jets lower on Jones’ potential list, however, since the Giants would be highly unwilling to deal him to their crosstown rivals. The possibility of seeing Jones winning with the Jets would be too much for the Giants to stomach, so you can effectively scratch a deal off for that reason.

It is also unlikely the Jets would want to pay Jones a deal so rich that the Giants wouldn’t match it, forcing them to surrender the 13th pick in this year’s draft and another first-rounder next season. If New York is dealing its first-rounder, they will likely use it only on Rodgers, who the Jets’ front office believes can make them a Super Bowl contender right now.
