2. Top Free Agent Fits For Daniel Jones – Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have designs on finding their franchise quarterback this offseason but are in a tricky spot to do so. A strong finish to the regular season ensured that Carolina will pick ninth in the first round, which may put them out of reach of the top prospects at the position without a costly trade up.

The Panthers have also had a tough time attracting free agent quarterbacks, which has put them largely on the periphery of the Derek Carr sweepstakes thus far. If the ninth pick and more assets are in play for a rookie quarterback, dealing some picks for Jones would be a wise investment.

New head coach Frank Reich is noted for his ability to develop quarterbacks, so there is reason to believe that Reich can unlock another tier in Jones’ game. There is still some work to do in terms of weapons for a quarterback, but a strong offensive line would offer a significant upgrade over what Jones had to work with in New York.

There would surely be some hesitancy for the Giants to trade Jones inside the NFC but the ninth pick would be a strong incentive to listen to offers. Owner David Tepper will undoubtedly have his front office reach out to New York GM Joe Schoen to gauge their willingness to execute a potential trade.
