1. Top Free Agent Fits For Daniel Jones – New York Giants

In the end, all roads lead back to the Giants for Jones. The fact that New York is willing to extend the franchise tag to control Jones’ rights signals how important they feel he is to the future of the franchise.

The non-exclusive franchise tag will pay Jones just under $33 million in 2023, a sum that all but wipes out the team’s $50 million in salary cap space. Allocating those kinds of resources to Jones will make it harder for Schoen to re-sign Saquon Barkley, pay his draft class, and upgrade the rest of the roster.

The investment is worth it if the Giants believe Jones is their franchise quarterback. Jones has also been vocal about his desire to remain in New York, so playing on the tag would allow Jones to do that for at least one more season.

The hope here would be that Jones eventually comes to terms on a longer-term deal with New York that lowers his cap hit for 2023. Either way, it certainly appears like the best fit for Jones is with the coaching staff that got the most out of him a year ago.
