NFC South power rankings after Derek Carr signs with Saints

Derek Carr takes New Orleans Saints over the top, even with Dennis Allen there
It may have taken a strong connection with Dennis Allen to get Derek Carr to New Orleans, but the Saints head coach needs to prove himself big time this season. If not for Nathaniel Hackett shenanigans over in Denver, Allen was briefly a candidate to go one-and-done at the helm of the Saints. This is not his first rodeo, as he was utterly terrible as a head coach of the Silver and Black.
But he and Carr are reunited, and it feels so good. The Saints have one of the best general managers in the sport in Mickey Loomis. Their defense has been a strength ever since Allen linked up with Sean Payton years ago. However, the offense has been suspect at best in the wake of Drew Brees’ retirement. Drafting his successor would have been ideal, but Carr is a great signing.
It does pain me to say this, but Carr fits in perfectly for what the Saints need. He was a bastion of hope amid chaos with the Raiders for years. For better or worse, he was a stabilizing presence for them. Carr may not be one for the bright lights in most instances, but he is certainly a top-12 quarterback in this league who can get you to the playoffs, maybe win games with some support?
With Carr entering the fray, it is hard to see the Saints being any worse than a 10-7 football team.
