3 Boston Red Sox stealing from the team thanks to bad contracts

Chris Sale is stealing from the Red Sox thanks to a bad contract
This was a bad contract before the ink was dry and nearly every fan in the New England area would agree with that sentiment. Chris Sale was signed to a five-year/$145-million contract that runs through the end of next season.
Now, when you look at one some of the top pitchers in the game are making, there’s every reason to believe that the type of contract that Sale signed is not too far fetched. But when you see that Sale’s production has been in the toilet since earning six consecutive Top 5 Cy Young Award finishes, the contract starts to lose its luster.
If Sale was that same pitcher that dominated the American League from 2012-2018 while pitching for the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox, then no one would bat an eye.
But the fact of the matter is that Sale has been in the training room more than he’s been on the field. A myriad of injuries, some of them very freakish in nature, have limited the southpaw to just 11 starts and less than 50 innings of work in the last three years.
Chris Sale is supposedly 100-percent entering spring training this season, and the left-hander has a lot of making up to do in order to live up the lofty expectations that come with such a lucrative deal.
