Prediction: Houston Astros once again win the AL West

Despite losing Carlos Correa and George Springer in recent seasons, the Houston Astros remain a juggernaut. I expect that to be the case once again after losing Justin Verlander.

The Astros’ competition in the division is as stiff as it has been in some time. The Mariners, armed with an abundance of young talent, are for real. The Angels are improved. The Rangers filled their biggest weakness – the rotation – by signing Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi. The A’s, well, yeah.

By all accounts, the Astros are the favorites to represent the American League in the World Series. Their offense should once again be very good, especially with Jose Abreu. The starting pitching depth remains a strength even without Verlander.

And it should result in (at least) another AL West title.
