Prediction: Texas Rangers miss the postseason

The Texas Rangers, after signing Corey Seager and Marcus Semien for a combined $500 million, finished 68-94 and fourth in the division last season.

This offseason, they signed deGrom and Eovaldi and re-signed Martin Perez. Late in free agency, they signed former All-Star and World Series-winning reliever Will Smith to a one-year contract to bolster the bullpen. They hired future Hall of Fame manager Bruce Bochy to replace Chris Woodward. So the arrow is certainly pointing up.

But I still think the Rangers miss the postseason once again in 2023. The gap between them and the Mariners, as well as other teams in the AL, remains and the injury risk in the rotation, especially deGrom, has me uncertain whether they will reach their ceiling.
